Speaker bio: Maureen L. Murat is an attorney and is Principal of Crowdie Advisors, LLC, a business consulting firm dedicated to helping local and foreign entrepreneurs and small businesses form business entities, transact business (strategy, planning and problem-solving), and obtain financing via equity crowdfunding and other alternative financing methods. Maureen has experience advising startups and early-stage businesses on equity crowdfunding strategies and other compliance issues related to raising funds to grow a business. She has extensive experience in navigating the JOBS Act exemptions and works with clients to ensure that they are able to meet their business and funding objectives. She also assists clients to determine which platform(s) would best serve their fundraising campaign. Maureen is a partner with Axes and Eggs, a blockchain think tank and digital advisory firm that focuses on blockchain consulting, education courses for executives and digital advisory services. She is also a Partner with AffinitiVC, a venture capital firm dedicated to managing funds in which underrepresented angel and venture capital investors may participate in the funding of underrepresented founders. Additionally, Maureen is Of Counsel to Cogent Law Group, a law firm dedicated to helping clients meet their business objectives. Her practice focuses on corporate matters, cryptocurrency regulation and compliance, and securities and tax matters.
